Unfortunately, the Gettysburg battlefield took the toll of some of Lincoln’s brave countrymen. The Americans who embraced death in the war field, dedicated themselves to the existence of their country with prestige and honor. On the other hand, the living Americans should play their own part in another way by greatly contributing in building the nation. Lincoln emphasizes the Americans to dedicate themselves completing the unfinished work of the people who died for the country. By holding the spirit of the dead, the living must dedicate themselves to have “a new birth of freedom” for their country by giving it a new beginning.
